HIMSS partners with Evolve Health Digital to offer digital health certification programs in Australia
Australian healthcare professionals can now pursue globally recognised certifications in digital health through HIMSS’ latest partnership.
The organisation has partnered with Evolve Health Digital, a digital health coaching and advisory firm, to offer certification programs in Australia, such as the HIMSS Certified Professional in Digital Health Transformation Strategy (CPDHTS), Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS), and Certified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CAHIMS).
WHY IT MATTERS
According to a press statement, the goal of the collaboration is to equip Australian healthcare professionals with appropriate digital skills and knowledge to “drive innovation and transformation in the health sector.”
CPDHTS, CPHIMS and CAHIMS focus on developing competencies in health IT, digital transformation, and data-driven decision-making to support healthcare professionals in navigating the evolving digital landscape.
These programs incorporate industry-relevant training in professional development and digital health education that includes theoretical and practical components in healthcare settings.
“As Australia’s healthcare sector continues its digital transformation, there is an urgent need for professionals to develop expertise in health informatics and digital health leadership,” emphasised James Carpenter, Co-Founder at Evolve Health Digital.
Program courses will begin in April 2025.
THE LARGER CONTEXT
The Australian Department of Health and Aged Care’s 10-year Digital Health Blueprint included workforce development and training as a key action plan in response to staff shortages. This blueprint complements the updated National Digital Health Strategy 2023-2028, which is driving the health system’s shift toward personalised and preventative healthcare.
